Looking West on Date Street

This was the local nite club, (on Date Street) Don't remember the name of it. I do remember that I used to go see a girl whom mother used to work at the club, we used to hang outside the club til it was time for me to go home....

This is one of about five mom and pop stores that were all within one block, one guy owned a store and the pool hall.

This used to be a bar. It's on Date street....When I was a kid in the late '40's my mom would send me to get my dad out of that bar

The story told to me was that Charles (Carlos) Vargas, while held as a prisoner of war, was placed on a Japanese ship. While sailing en route from the Philippines, the ship was attacked by the Allies.
